Twenty games submitted in a fortnight, built by a studio that usually stays in its specialized lanes. We hoped for ten prototypes that didn't catch fire; we got twice that. Here are the numbers, the scoreboard, and what happens when you give an entire team an AI assistant that is incredibly fast, but occasionally hands over code that does absolutely nothing.
In our last post, we mentioned that we set loose a group of Designers, Producers, and Ops managers on Roblox with nothing but an idea and a Claude login.
While the resulting games were impressive, and in some cases, surprisingly functional; the real experiment wasn't happening in the code. It was happening in the room…
At Koffeecup, we’ve always been quite fond of a bit of experimentation.
Recently, we decided to point that curiosity toward the intersection of AI and User Generated Content (UGC).
We called it the Koffeejam…
We finally did it. We invited you all over to our new place, pushed the piles of dev kits to the edge of the desks, and hosted KoffeeNight 2026 right here at Koffeecup HQ.
It was "cosy" - the polite British term for "please mind the monitors" - but it felt right.
We’ve already shipped Hoomanz on PC, Mac, Xbox, and Nintendo. Naturally, the next logical step was to see if we could get it onto iOS. Our Technical Director decided to run a little experiment using Unreal and Claude AI to see if we could move things along without it becoming a "stop everything and panic" sort of project…
I tried to build a 2D game using only AI… and the biggest challenge wasn’t the code.
From scripting to asset creation, everything seemed possible on paper. But in reality, one part of the process quickly became a bottleneck, and it wasn’t what I expected.
What started as a simple experiment turned into a deeper exploration of where AI actually works… and where it doesn’t.
This year, Koffeefest took place in Spain! It’s always special to finally meet in person again, especially for newcomers who get to connect with the team after months of working together remotely.
We’re incredibly proud to see how the Koffeecupers grow and evolve year after year. Moments like these are a great reminder of the energy, creativity, and team spirit that make Koffeecup what it is, and of how good it feels to step away from the screens to share conversations, laughs, and a few cold drinks together
No Christmas K this year, no pooping deers, drunk Santa - none of this.
Just before Christmas we lost Jimmy, Jimmy Wadkins.
A unique human - talented - unruly - hilarious - unexpected.
Our fantastic Shoo Skin Art Contest has wrapped up in style, with a judging livestream last Thursday to crown the winners.
We were blown away by the creativity, with tons of entries and loads of people getting involved, both in person at events and across our Discord. So let’s take a little stroll back through the contest, from the first doodles to the final drumroll…
Gamescom 2025 was even better than we imagined. All of you were awesome and gave us full confidence going into our full launch of Hoomanz! for end of October 2025.
Included: a bunch of photos... and a kick-ass aftermovie!
A big thank you to everyone!
Every year we throw a party. But this year? We gave it a name.
KoffeeNight was born. And like any newborn, it was loud, chaotic, and full of joy (minus the nappies, thankfully).
The result: a glorious mix of live jazz, dancefloor chaos, and suspiciously competitive karaoke.
We’ve quite grown since last year—there were a whopping 51 people at the retreat (out of 68 Koffeecuppers at the time of the retreat). So, it was a first for a lot of people, and we enjoyed every minute of it! We’re really proud of the work everyone does here at Koffeecup, especially with the challenges remote work brings. It was really great seeing the team talking, laughing and sharing a few cold ones together.
Gamescom 2024 was a blast, and that’s mainly thanks to YOU. This blog post recaps all the fun we had at Gamescom this year, including: Juicy details on our preparations and challenges, a few fun facts and figures, us spilling our emotions to you, a bunch of photos... and a kick-ass aftermovie!
In this episode we’ll be talking about some of the gameplay mechanics and game design of HOOMANZ -- 3Cs, the overall experience, the contrast of light vs. dark, and how all of this evolved throughout early development.
How did Shoo, this immensely huggable creature, come to life?! We breakdown our main character’s development evolution – its entire journey from idea to concepts, to more concepts, to reworks, to more reworks… aaand pumpkins.
Come experience the process behind it all in our episode HOOMANZ Devlog #2 - The Evolution of Shoo!
Whooo, what a party!
We certainly know how to party… and even better, we most definitely know how to throw a party! Our goal with this party was to give all our partners that came to London during the week, a place and time to chill out, completely unwind and just casually network. After the extensive days of working closely together during the week, to help improve the platform we love, it was needed – like taking off those uncomfortable shoes after a long day.
Our very own first-born baby game, named “Hoomanz”, is in the making! For some time now actually, but we finally decided to share the journey with you by posting regularly some BTS and insights about Hoomanz and more!
Come check out some juicy BTS bites and early days concept arts.
We’ve recently finished a long project for a client. Over a dozen mini-games, with accessibility in mind, including the vision-impaired.
In this blog we walk you through the challenges it threw at us and how we solved them. Dive in!
Pssst! Apparently, there’s cake…
Frequently, our clients approach us with enquiries regarding the latest hype in emerging technologies that attract considerable attention. They want to know about the readiness and practical capabilities of these technologies in relation to what they come across in online articles and discussions.
The AI QR code generator is, without a doubt, one of these technologies that has captured considerable interest. Recently, one of our clients came to us, asking exactly that—whether the technology has matured enough to be effectively used for digital companies while meeting precise briefs and company branding.
Our Lead Web Developer, Benoit Zenker, who leads the exploration, now shares the team's findings and discoveries.
Deep in the misty peaks of Chamonix, France nestled right at the base of the renowned Mont Blanc, the highest summit in the Alps, you see an unusual scene. Huddled together trudging through the icy fog across the perilous, cold, and unforgiving terrain is a band of explorers. You hear a distant howl… perhaps animal perhaps human. Then it all makes sense……… it's the Koffeecup Retreat 2022.
Hello all,
It’s been a tough couple of years, and I hope you are all doing OK out there.
For Koffeecup, we’ve been here, working remotely and doing our thing. You know the drill - video calls, Slack messages, pretending that gifs are a real form of communication (they are)... well despite it all, we really have been fortunate to continue collaborating as a team and create some wonderful things. But we never thought the year would start off with a trip to the Dominican Republic, and it’s all thanks to Maloka.
Burberry and digital production agency Koffeecup have teamed up to develop a new software that is revolutionising fashion design and engineering. The application merges gaming technology and design to significantly speed up and simplify the process of placing prints onto garments.
Augmented reality is now on your mobile device, both Apple and Google are now shipping AR viewer in their respective OS, here at Koffeecup, we’ve been embracing this for a little while now and we thought we’d share our findings, good and bad, to help you make the most out of this exciting format.

Twenty people. Twenty games at entirely different levels of completion, varying degrees of polish, and wildly different final scores.
But as the dust settled on the KOFFEEJAM, we noticed a distinct pattern. What separated the participant who came out most satisfied - and most clear-eyed about the technology - wasn't their technical experience. It wasn't the hours they logged, and it wasn't even their prior knowledge of AI…
