Axel Achard
Lead Sound Designer
Axel’s journey into the digital ether began at eight years old with a Nintendo 64 and the realisation that one life simply wasn't enough. After spending years watching cousins click their way through Diablo, he traded being a spectator for a career in making virtual worlds feel, well, loud. Now a seasoned creative force, he’s swapped the joystick for the conductor’s baton, navigating a professional path defined by the belief that the "hard stuff" is usually what makes the best work.
As our Lead Sound Designer, Axel doesn't just "add noise" to a project. While he wrangles our music systems with a conductor’s eye, he is most at home in the granular world of sound design, ensuring the audio isn't just loitering in the background like an uninvited guest, but acting as a front-row protagonistHe fits into the Koffeecup ecosystem perfectly - mostly because he’s mastered the art of ReaScript to automate the boring bits, leaving more time for the actual craft. (And staring intensely at waveforms.)
When he’s not making games sound immersive, Axel is likely being outmanoeuvred by his son, who is currently growing at a rate that is frankly inconvenient for his internal clock.. A committed night owl with a penchant for South Asian spices and French ravioles, he balances a love for the narrative depth of Baldur’s Gate 3 with the chaotic nostalgia of Malcolm in the Middle. He’s an extrovert who dreams of teleportation, though for now, he’s happy enough navigating the complex rhythms of London life.
