Adrien Fonnet
Lead Game Designer
Adrien grew up in Picardie under the classic misconception of youth, that video games were merely a hobby, not a proper career. Instead, he went through the standard French engineering school curriculum, did a stint in IT consulting at Accenture, and ended up doing a PhD in immersive data analysis.
His pivot into game design happened because he was playing a game beta, found the balancing a bit sketchy, and decided to fix it himself. He built a comprehensive balancing model, shared it with the community, and inadvertently caught the attention of the studio's CEO. He joined Koffeecup down the line, lured by a former colleague and a fondness for an environment that relies on human touch rather than rigid corporate hierarchy.
As Lead Game Designer, Adrien’s day is a delicate balancing act of designing new systems, mentoring the design team, and stopping himself from spending an infinite amount of time on any single problem. He is also a former European Champion of the game Smite - a feat he accomplished while balancing his engineering studies, and he still keeps the giant fake novelty check in his office to prove it. To balance out his love for cooking and restaurants, he plays Padel, having retired from traditional tennis.
Koffee: None. He finds the taste entirely offensive - unless it’s hidden inside a Tiramisu.
