Ingenium engine interactive experience for Jaguar Land Rover
We were privileged to work with Imagination on two projects at the prestigious Paris Auto Show in October 2016. As well as a popular driving game that demonstrated Jaguar Land Rover’s new Advanced Driver Assistance Systems we also created a 3D interactive touch application that showcased the company’s new Ingenium petrol and diesel engines.
Explaining a new type of engine
Our goal was to explain these complex pieces of machinery in a way that was intuitive and easy to understand. On first interaction, an image of the engine would rotate 360 degrees, giving visitors an overview of the entire piece in its ‘closed state’. Upon further interaction, the engine would expand to reveal its internal parts. As the engine gradually broke down into its individual segments, each stage of its deconstruction would be accompanied by ‘hotspots’, which viewers could click on to reveal additional text and video about that section of the engine.
The Take Away
Converting complex 3D into a responsive application was always going to be a tough challenge. It therefore made this task a technically instructive and engaging project. The results were very well received at the Paris auto show, with a 100% of favourable opinion on the innovative aspect of the installation. We’re looking forward to working again on this new and widely successful technology.
